CHITTAGONG: Communications and railway minister Obaidul Quader Saturday paid a sudden visit in the port city to inspect different works of railways and roads department.
During the visit, the minister is visiting roads of Sitakunda and Hathazari from Saturday morning, checking fitness of the plying vehicles, driving license.
Rail, road and highway department officials were not informed about the visit. Metropolitan police also was not infirmed about the visit of the Communications Minister.
A senior official of special branch of Metropolitan Police told banglanews, “The minister suddenly arrived at the rest house of Roads and Highways Department in port city’s Agrabad area at about 11pm on Friday.”
Later, Obaidul inspected the condition of Hathazari-Sitakunda link road at about 9am on Saturday, said sources.
Hathazari Thana OC AKM Liakat Ali told banglanews, “I heard about the visit of minister. But we were not informed earlier. The minister had gone to Sitakunda before I arrived there.”
