BHOLA : At least 50 people including journalists were injured in a clash between people of Awami League and BNP in Char Fashion upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.
The injured journalists are Jamal Molla and Mainuddin Jamadar of the daily Matabad and reporter Yeasin Arafat of the daily Ajker Bhola.
Police and local sources said Char Fashion Upazila BNP convened a reception ceremony to former MP Nazim Uddin Alam who released from jail at Sadar road of the upazila.
On the other hand, Juba League and Chhatra League jointly scheduled a demonstration procession and protest rally demanding trial of slain AL leader Harun in the same venue on the same day.
Later, the two parties locked into clash around 4:30pm, leaving 50 people injured from both sides.
Of the injured, 30 were admitted to Char Fashion Hospital and two were admitted to Bhola Sadar Hospital.
Regarding the matter, “Bhola Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Mahafuzur Rahman said huge police forces were deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation.”
