Nat’l Vitamin A Plus campaign Saturday

DHAKA: The National Vitamin "A" Plus Campaign- 2011 will be held Saturday across the country for enhancing the growth and immune system of the children.

Millions of children will be fed with vitamin A capsules or anti-worm tablets in the country for their healthy growth, immune from child diseases.  

This time, vitamin "A" capsules will be administered to the children aged between six months to five years while de-worming tablets to the children aged two to five years at all immunization centres across the country from 8 am to 4 pm.

Children aged six months to 11 months will be given blue-coloured capsule of high-powered Vitamin A, children aged one year to five will be given red-coloured capsule of high-powered Vitamin A and children aged 2-5 years will be given deworming tablets.

Over four lakh health workers and volunteers will work together to make the nationwide campaign a success, sources said.

Under the program, 2.20 crore children aged six months to five years will be given lifesaving vitamin A capsules while more than 1.90 crore children aged two to five years will be fed anti-worm tablets, according to an official estimate.
