DHAKA: The historic Education Day will be observed across the country on Monday with a vow to implement the National Education Policy.
Different political and student organizations will chalk out elaborate programmes commemorating the martyrs of the Day.
On this day in 1962, the student community staged a demonstration against the Hamidur Rahman Education Commission report.
Police opened fire on the demonstrators that left several students, including Mostafa, Wajiullah and Babul, killed and many others injured.
After the killing of the students in police firing, the movement spread all over the country which led to the six-point movement in 1966 and mass upsurge in 1969.
Marking the day, National Front of Teachers and Employees will organize several programmes.
