CHANDPUR: Rail communications of Feni with other parts of the country remained suspended till Monday noon following a train derailment in Chitoshi area on Chandpur-Laksham route Sunday afternoon.
Railway sources said four tankers of a Oil-laden train turned off the track around 5:30pm on Sunday, snapping rail communications for 18 hours on the route.
A relief train from Chittagong rushed to the spot at about 7:30 pm and is trying to rescue the compartments.
Chitoshi station master Tapon Kumar Mitra told banglanews, “More than hundred people are working to normal the train link. He hoped that the train service would be resumed at noon.”
Chittagong Divisional railway manager Sukumar Bhoumik said, “We are continuing our effort to clear the line as soon as possible.”
Over 1 lakh litres oil may have poured into the ground from derailed four tankers of the train, source said.
