GAZIPUR: Police rescued an abducted young girl from district’s Kapasia upazila by conducting a four-hour special drive on Tuesday.
At least eight cops, including Kapasia Thana Officer-in- Charge (OC), were injured during the drive as the law enforcers locked into a clash with the kidnapers in Kaliganj area of the district.
Later, police held three kidnapers from the spot.
Kapasia Thana OC Delwar Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Police and local sources said a gang of miscreants led by Aziz Morol attacked one Shirajul Islam’s house and abducted his daughter in the afternoon.
On information, police rushed in and chased the kidnappers.
At one stage, police locked into a clash with the criminals, leaving eight cops injured.
Sources said police fired five rounds of bullets to bring the situation under control. They also recovered few local arms from the spot.
Kaliganj Thana OC Anayet Hossain told banglanews, “Victim’s family members beat up a suspected kidnapper Moin Uddin and handed him over to the police immediate after the clash.”
