CHITTAGONG: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) started investigation against Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) mayor M Manjur Alam for his alleged corruption during World Cup-2011.
The ACC authorities summoned some 1,380 files of various development projects which were undertaken in the city on the occasion of World Cup.
An ACC source said that some Tk 85 crore was embezzled during fiscal year 2010-11 in the name infrastructure development of CCC.
ACC sent a letter signed by deputy director Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan to CCC authorities Monday.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, deputy director Major Foysal Pasha said, “We received some allegation against CCC authorities in road extension, carpeting and other development works, and we have started initial investigation.”
Chief Executive Officer of CCC Anwara Begum told banglanews, “CCC mayor has received the letter and we will send the ACC demanded files by to him soon.”
