Biman staffs deny discussing with authority

DHAKA: The employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines are not agreed to sit in any discussion with the authority.

“Our only demand is to dissolve the incumbent board of directors. So, we will not sit in discussion on the suggestion of the board,” Biman Bachao Oikya Parishad (BBOP) convener Moshiqur Rahman told this to banglanews on Saturday night.

A meeting of the board of directors of the national flag carrier was held on Friday. The meeting directed the Biman management to discuss on the demands of the staffers.

He added: “We are on movement to turn Biman into a profitable institution. So, there is no chance of sitting with Biman authority in this regard.”

The leaders of Biman Bachao Oikya Parishad (BBOP) sat in a meeting on Saturday night after the recommendation of board of directors.

They reiterated their same demand of dissolving the incumbent board of directors.

A statement of BBOP said they have withdrawn their strike on April 10 on assurance of Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Faruk Khan.

But, the ongoing movement has not been stayed.
