Madrid: Gerard Pique hailed the impact of outgoing Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, and feels the trainer will return to Camp Nou one day.
The now legendary trainer signed off as Blaugrana boss with a 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final, and the Spanish defender was full of kind words for his boss after the victory.
“He knew internally that it was time to leave, and he will now feel a bit of nostalgia after leaving the club, but will return someday,” Pique told reporters. "This season I have not played as well as I would have liked, but I`m very proud to have been with him for four years.
“I thank him for all that he has taught me and I`m happy that he has added a new title before leaving,” he concluded.
Tito Vilanova will take over as the Catalan giants’ head coach ahead of the 2012-13 campaign.
