CHITTAGONG: Internee doctors of Chittagong Medical College Hospital started work abstention for indefinite period in protest against assaulted by activists of Chhatra League, front organization of ruling Awami league.
The demonstration has started at about 8:00pm on Tuesday. The demonstrating doctors locked main gate of emergency department of the hospital for one hour.
CMCH sources said a Islamia Degree College BCL activist was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon after being injured in a BCL infighting at their college. On allegation of negligence in treatment, some fellow BCL activists attacked on internee doctors.
Hearing the news, BCL`s CMCH unit rushed in and locked into clash with the attackers, leaving injured an intern doctor and two BCL activists.
Golam Kibria Chowdhury, convener of the Internee Doctors Association, said, “They will form human chain at hospital’s goll chatter at about 10:00am on Wednesday in protest against the BCL attack.”
“They enforced the work abstention to press their five-point demands, including punishment to the BCL men who attacked on internee doctors,’ he added.
