RANGPUR: The door-to-door voter list updating programme in Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) area began Monday to hold the election of the country’s the newest and tenth city corporation.
A total of 284 data collectors under supervision of 58 supervisors will complete collection of door-to-door information from July 16 to 25 to update voter list with photographs in RCC area, Sadar Upazila Election Officer Mohammad Alamgir said.
Teachers of different primary and secondary levels schools, madrashas, colleges and other educational institutions have been appointed in this regard, he added.
On completion of primary data collection, taking photographs of the voters will continue from July 27 to August 14 next in RCC area, sources said.
In addition to the former municipality area, Haridebpur, Porshuram, Tapodhan, Satgara, Rajendrapur, Chandanpat, Saddyapuskuruni, Darshona, Tampat, Uttam unions under Sadar upazila and Kanchu area under Kawnia and Goda, Shimla and Kolabri areas of Pirgachha upazila have been added to RCC area.
However, locals said a good number of young voters will be added to the new voter list of RCC with 203 square kilometers.
