SYLHET: A man was stabbed to death by rivals centering land dispute at Tetli village in South Surma ion Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek, 35, son of late Sonafar Ali of Tetli Uttarpara village.
Witnesses said Andul Malek had a longtime conflict with Abdul Kader over land properties. Following the dispute, Kader and his associates called Malek out of his house around 8pm.
Later, they got into an altercation. At a stage of the altercation, Kader stabbed Malek, leaving him injured critically.
He died on the way to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
His body was kept in the hospital morgue.
”Confirming the matter, South Surma Thana OC Ranjan Shamanta said, “One suspected killer Abdul Kader was held from Bhartkhola area while trying to flee.”
Drives are being conducted to catch the other culprits involved with the matter, he added.
