oDesk VP suggests youths

Don’t sacrifice study in online earning

DHAKA: Matt Cooper, vice president of oDesk, an internationally famous online job destination, has suggested Bangladeshi youths not to sacrifice their education for anything.

Earning online is lucrative, but education is first of all, he further said.

Matt Cooper visited Dhaka to exchange views with a group of selected oDesk contractors here.

Prior to the session, Matt came up with the suggestion while talking to a team of banglanews24.com on Wednesday noon in an exclusive interview.

He also elaborated the reasons behind his visit to Dhaka.

Of the oDesk contractors, 12 percent are from Bangladesh which is 3rd largest in the world, informed Matt Cooper.  
 
Individual number of Bangladeshi contractor of oDesk will be more than 1.5 lakh, he said.

Bangladesh has a huge potentiality in this field that should be explored in all possible ways.  

oDesk is considering introduction of its own bank transactions system for the contractors to avoid payment discrepancies, said Matt Cooper.


Matt brings to oDesk over a decade of executive operating experience in both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. Previously, as a member of the executive team at Accolo, Inc., a recruiting services and technology firm, he grew the business from 1 employee into one of the top 50 companies on the Inc 500 list. He also co-founded a boutique strategic consulting firm for ramping early stage companies, and started his career in investment banking at JPMorgan Securities. Matt puts his finance, operations and strategy expertise to work leading oDesk`s risk management, marketplace operations, and customer support and services teams. Under Matt`s stewardship, customers are getting the support they need to succeed on oDesk.

Matt holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University. He also graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University.
