DHAKA: Missing BNP leader Ilias Ali made phone calls his lawyer Ahsan Habib for several times before his missing on that night, but his lawyer had not received.
The information was revealed on police investigation.
Ilias Ali stayed one hour at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla with five activists of his party on the night of his missing.
Police submitted their eighth progress report on investigation into the missing of BNP leader M Ilias Ali with a Dhaka court on Monday.
Banani Thana Inspector Kazi Mainul Islam submitted the report with the court.
Non GR branch officer of the court concerned Moazzem Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The report reads that Ilias Ali was waiting for his lawyer Ahsan Habib after finishing political talks with the party activists on April 17.
In the meantime, Ilias phoned his lawyer several times but his lawyer has not received the phone call.
The report added that Ilias also met with his in-laws relative Sajol and his family members while staying in the hotel on that night.
On April 17, BNP Organizing Secretary of Sylhet Division and former MP M Ilias Ali went missing along with his car and driver.
Tahsina Rushdie Luna, wife of Ilias Ali, lodged a General Diary (GD) with Banani Thana over the incident on the same day.
The High Court on issued a rule on the government to explain within 10 days why it should not be directed to produce Ilias Ali before the court.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court also directed Banani police to submit reports to it every 48 hours on the progress of the investigation into the whereabouts of Ilias Ali.
