DHAKA: Ruling Awami League Advisory Council Member Suranjit Sengupta MP, also minister without portfolio, said opposition BNP will participate in the next general election as they are taking part in Gazipur by-election.
He came up with the statement while addressing a discussion meeting organized by Bangabandhu Peshajibi Parishad at the National Press Club Saturday.
The AL leader said BNP is going to take part in Kapasia by-election which indicates they would take part in the next national election under interim government as well.
Indicating the BNP, the veteran politician said there is no ‘last word’ in politics and BNP has lately realized that fair election is possible under partisan government.
I believe that they will announce soon about their participation in the election under partisan government, Suranjit said.
Regarding Padma Bridge, the former railway minister said, “We are going to build Padma Bridge soon amid BNP’s propaganda.”
They along with donors will be regretful after the construction of the bridge and greet the initiative taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
With the organization president M Jahir Uddin Mobu in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Dhaka City Awami League Publicity Secretary Abdul Haque Sabuj, former BCL general secretary Ismat Kadir Gama and Bangabandhu Manchya general secretary Abdul Karim Khan.
