DHAKA: A 9-day long ‘Kerala Greens—A South Asian Painting Exhibition’ will be held at Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts from November 16.
Indira Gandhi Culture Centre, Dhaka, in association with the State Bank of India in Bangladesh and Channel i as Media Partners and in collaboration with the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts will organize the exhibition.
‘Kerala Greens’ is a collection of 34 paintings of 34 noted artists from South Asian countries produced during an art camp at Trivandrum in Kerala, India from February 16-23, 2011.
The art camp was organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and SEHER, an Indian NGO. “Kerala Greens” is one of the many manifestations of ICCR’s continuous endeavor to promote cultural linkages throughout South Asia by providing opportunities to talented artists within the region.
Out of the 34 artists who participated in the art camp, 16 were from India and 2 were from Bangladesh.
Eminent painters, Prof Rafiqun Nabi, and Ranjit Das, from Bangladesh participated in the Art Camp, “Kerala Greens” at Kerala in Trivandrum.
The painting exhibition will be inaugurated at 5:30 PM on November 16, 2012, at the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts, Dhaka.
Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Abul Hasan Mahamood Ali will attend the occasion as the Chief Guest for the inauguration while, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Sandeep Chakravorty and eminent artist Professor Rafiqun Nabi, who participated in the art camp, ‘Kerala Greens’, will be present as special guests.
