DHAKA: The 12th international short and independent film festival, to be organised by Bangladesh Short Film Forum, will begin in Dhaka on December 13.
The festival, which will feature about 200 short and independent films from 30 countries, will continue till December 19.
The films will be screened at the auditoriums of Central Public Library, Bangladesh National Museum, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, The British Council and Russian cultural centre.
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhit will inaugurate the festival as chief guest at 4:00pm on December 13 on the Public Library premises in city.
Information secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun will be special guest at the inaugural ceremony, to also be attended by Bangladesh Short Film Forum president Morshedul Islam, festival committee co-chair Nasiruddin Yousuff and festival director N Rashed Chowdhury.
Festival committee chair Hasnat Abdul Hye will preside over the programme.
Screening of the films will be held at 11:00am, 3:00pm, 5:00pm and 7:00pm at the Central Public Library’s Shaukat Osman Memorial Auditorium everyday.
The festival will be dedicated to late filmmaker Tareque Masud and cinematographer Mishuk Munier.
