BOGRA: Local administration imposed section 144 in Nandigram upazila of the district as two rival fractions of ruling Awami League have convened meeting at same place and same time.
On behalf of upazila administration, executive magistrate and UNO Shakila Dil Hashim imposed section 144 in Nandigram upazila Bus Stand and surrounding areas Tuesday from 12:00pm to 12:00am.
Sources said upazila AL convener Jahidur Rahman Jahid alleged that former president of upazila AL Shafiul Alam Bulu is a war criminal in a press conference held at Bogra Press Club. Supporters of Bulu convened a rally in the area around 3:00pm in protest against the allegation.
On the other hand, followers of Jahid convened another programme at the same time and same venue demanding the trial of the war criminals.
Officer-in-Charge of Nandigram Thana Aminur Rahman told banglanews, “Apprehending disturbance of law-and-order, the local administration imposed section 144 in the venue and surrounding areas.”
