KUSHTIA: Police Sunday arrested manager of Akij Bidi Factory Khorshed Alam and 13 Ansars on charge of killing two workers.
Officer-in-Charge of Daulput Thana confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier in the day two workers of Akij Bidi Factory were shot dead and 10 others injured as the security personnel of the factory opened fire on them while they were holding a rally demanding pay hike.
The deceased were identified as Rakibul and Pintu reports our correspondent from Kushtia.
The incident occurred around 1:15pm when around 2,000 workers of the factory were demonstrating on the factory premises at Hosenabad demanding pay hike.
As the workers loyal to the owners rushed in to face the demonstrators, the duty armed Ansar members opened fire on the demonstrators, killing two of them on the spot.
The workers were demonstrating from Thursday to press home their demand, the police official added.
Of the injured, five were undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital while the rests were admitted to different local clinics.
