DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alleged that the reports published in different newspapers about recruiting consultant in Padma Bridge Project were partial and distorted.

ACC on Thursday afternoon released a written statement signed by ACC deputy director and public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya in this regard.

According to the statement, many newspapers and electronic media have published news over the much-talked-about Padma Bridge corruption in last couple of days.

They sometimes used the reference of ACC. In many cases, they have published partial report, which created confusion among people, it added.

The statement also stated that earlier the World Bank has provided some information of Padma bridge graft to ACC. The report disclosed the involvement of some specific persons.

But, the journalists should not come to the conclusion that ‘they have demanded bribe from the consultant farm.

ACC is investigating the issue. The commission has already quizzed some persons in this regard. Meanwhile, the Canadian company has also agreed to help ACC in this regard.

The commission will take legal step against the responsible after proper investigation, says the statement.

Urging the mass media to publish objective and factual news, ACC statement said the mass media is requested to publish complete and factual news about any under investigation issue.
