DHAKA: India and Bangladesh are keenly promoting cultural exchange to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

A spellbinding performance by a Bangladeshi cultural troupe marked the concluding day of the 151st birth anniversary of the Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Artists from both countries performed to themes penned by Tagore as a form of tribute at the three-day event that was held in Tripura capital Agartala.

The event aimed to promote the people-to-people relationship between the two neighbors and paving way for development in both the countries.

Indraneel Bhowmik, an organizer, said, “Basically such programs help to boost the human relation that lies between our land and Bangladesh.”

Indraneel added: “We are neighbors, we are friends and obviously more and more interaction through cultural exchange will increase our bond and it will lead to a better and peaceful world.”

Huge crowds thronged the Bir Bikram Memorial Auditorium hall to see the 30-member crew from Bangladesh perform.

The program was organized under the aegis of Tripura University, cultural society Kirat and Bengal Foundation.

Qayyum Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi artist, said: "A new atmosphere has been created between India and Bangladesh so that we get closer to each other through such programmes.”

He added: “India is the biggest neighbor of Bangladesh and we wish for good relations and help from India for our development.”

Over the years, both countries have expanded their areas of interaction and mutual cooperation and have signed memorandums in the field of science, arts, and culture.
