DHAKA: The mobile-phone operators of the country will have to introduce ‘10 second pulse’ with each call from Wednesday midnight.

The decision will come into enforce as mobile-phone regulator Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has put special attention for ensuring customers’ interest, said officials.

The cell-phone operators--Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Airtel, Citycell and Teletalk—will have to implement the decision for all packages irrespectively with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) for ensuring quality service, sources said.

Earlier in May 2011, the BTRC directed the mobile operators to fix the time pulse, but none paid heed to the direction.

Right now, the minimum per minute rate for an on-net (to same operator) call is Tk 0.25 while +the minimum rate for an off-net (to a different operator) call is Tk 0.65 per minute.
