15 held with smuggled wheat in Barisal

BARISAL: Coastguard personnel held 15 people with 3200 sacks wheat carrying in five cargos from Kirtonkhula River of the district on Tuesday.

Contingent commander Shafiul Islam said, “Acting on a tip off, we raided the cargos and held 15 people who were smuggling the huge amount of wheat from warehouse of Bhola Food Control Directorate to Barisal.”

He said, “All detained goods would be handed over to local police station along with detainees.”
