DHAKA: Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque on Thursday threatened of resigning from the parliament if their demand of restoration of caretaker government is not met.
The BNP lawmaker came up with the forewarning while addressing a protest rally organized for demanding immediate release of party acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at National Press Club.
He urged the Prime Minister to place a bill to restore the caretaker government system in the next session of the parliament on January 27.
The BNP leader also forewarned that the party would never take part in any election guided by the government.
Indicating the PM, he said, “The dream of holding power for 10 years like Ershad will not be possible.”
BNP does not attend parliament to receive salaries and allowances, he claimed.
