DHAKA: The state prosecutors of International Crime tribunal (ICT) on Sunday appealed for arresting Jamaat-e-Islami central leader and chairman of Diganta Media Corporation Mir Kashem Ali for his alleged involvement in crime against humanity in 1971.
Earlier in the day, the prosecutors filed an appealed to tribunal register M Shahinul Islam for arresting the senior Jamaat leader.
Sources said Mir Kashem was allegedly involved in crimes against humanity as coordinator of a torture cell in the port city set up by the occupation forces during the Liberation War in 1971.
Earlier on September 25, 2010, the visiting investigation team of International Crimes Tribunal got information that Pakistani army personnel and their local collaborators including Mir Kashem set up the torture cell at Dalim Hotel on Nazir Ahmed Chowdhury lane.
Kashem was the then president of Jamaat`s student wing Islami Chhatra Sangha and an Al Badr.
