DHAKA: Awami League leader and former home minister Mohammad Nasim urged all political parties, including the main opposition BNP to extend their full support to the government for successfully constructing the Padma Bridge.
Addressing BNP, he said, “You are criticizing the government instead of providing help. The issue is now stands as the main challenge for the country. So, come forward to help the government.”
He came up with the call while addressing a discussion meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Tuesday morning.
Nasim said, “The World Bank has taken wrong decision on the Padma bridge issue. We were hopeful about their assistance. They should understand that 16 crore people can not bear the liability of a quarter.”
Addressing his party men, Nasim said, “You should not deliver any comment that could create an opportunity for the opposition to plot against the construction work. We have to be more responsible while talking on the issue.”
He hoped that people will reelect Sheikh Hasina in order to complete the Padma Bridge construction work.
Blaming Dr. Yunus for WB’s decision, the leader said, “You had lobbied the World Bank against funding the Padma Bridge. Although you are a Nobel Laureate, you are not a patriot.”
