JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: Professor Sharif Enamul Kabir tops in the vice chancellor panel election of Jahangirnagar University getting highest 50 votes Friday.
Besides, incumbent JU VC Prof Anwar Hossain stood second getting 35 votes and Professor Nurul Alam stood third through lottery scoring the same votes.
The two other contestants Professor Afsar Ahmed got 18 votes and Professor Shamsul Kabir Khan got three votes.
President Zillur Rahman will select the JU VC after the submission of three top panels.
A total of 63 senate members cast their votes among 68.
JU Registrar announced the election results at 1:30pm at Senate Hall of the administration building.
On May 17, Dhaka University Professor Anwar Hossain was appointed as new Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University just after resignation of Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir.
