DHAKA: Opposition chief whip Zainul Abdin Frooque said the ruling Awami League is plotting to hold elections under the present government.
He came up with the allegation while addressing a human chain demo in front of National Press Club on Friday morning.
Demanding restoration of caretaker government, he said, “The government should place the non-party caretaker government bill in the national parliament otherwise, it has to bear the responsibility of any political unrest.”
He said, “The government has to release the detained 18-party leaders, including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Isam Aamgir, before the June 11 rally.”
Criticizing the speeches of home minister and her state minister, Zainul said, “They have advised journalists to keep distance with police. But, they failed to understand that they are creating distance with people by delivering such speeches.’
He said, “The ruling party can not stop our lawful movement by filing false cases, arresting our people and abducting popular leader like Ilias Ali.”
