DHAKA: The journalist community announced to observe a 24-hour work abstention on March 11 to press home their 3-point demand including trial of the killers of journalists including Sagar-Runi.
The announcement came from the grand rally in front of the National Press Club on Monday morning.
Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) jointly organized the programme presided over by BFUJ President Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury.
Meanwhile, journalists from all over the country joined the rally under the banner of different regional and bit based associations.
Amongst the others, BFUJ secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, BFUJ other wing president Ruhul Amin Gazi, secretary general Sawkat Mahmud, National Press Club president Kamaluddin Sabuj, and general secretary Abdal Ahmed, DUJ’s president Omar Faruk, general secretary Shaban Mahmud, DRU’s president Shahin Chowdhury and general secretary Ilias Khan were present in the rally.
