THAKURGAON: Opposition BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman on Wednesday said Home Minister MK Alamgir would be tried at the mob court for his remarks over DC Harun’s award.
“The home minister violated his oath saying Deputy Commissioner Harun-or-Rashid was awarded for beating up opposition chief whip Zainul Abdin Farroque,” he said.
The senior leader of the party came up with the assertion while addressing a meeting organized by the district BNP unit.
The district BNP organized the programme demanding immediate release of party central leaders, including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
With district BNP president Shahed Kamal in the chair, the programme was also addressed, among others by general secretary Taimur Rahman and joint secretary Obaidullah Masud.
Later, the central leader distributed leaflet as part of their mass campaign across the country.
On Tuesday the home minister said Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police Harun-or-Rashid was given ‘President Police Medal (PPM)’ award for his performance in preventing anarchy on the streets by beating up opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque.
The home minister came up with the disclosure while talking to journalists at capital’s Rajarbagh Telecom Babhan following a meeting with the top officials of police on Tuesday.
He said, “Police were directed preventing rally on the streets as the opposition leaders carried out anarchy in the name of agitation.”
On July 6 in 2011, a team of police led by DC Harun-Or-Rashid attacked Zainul Abdin Farroque in front of Jatiya Sangsad, leaving him critically injured.
