DHAKA: The Jatiya Sangsad Thursday passed the Vested Property Return (Amendment) Bill-2012 with a provision of extending timeframe of preparing and publishing the district-wise lists of the vested properties through gazette notification.
Land Minister M Rezaul Karim Hira tabled the bill in the House in line with recommendations of the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of land.
The bill sought smooth return of the vested properties to their genuine owners.
The timeframe for preparing the list of the vested property has been extended to 300 days from the existing 150 days while period of distribution of the gazette notification of the vested property to 120 days from 90 days for the convenient of the members of the public.
The House passed the bill by voice-vote after rejecting independent lawmaker Fazlul Azim’s amendments for extending the time to 360 days from proposed 300 days.
