DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith Monday categorically said the electricity crisis of the country could be resolved by making a long-term plan.
The finance minister came up with the observation while addressing in a deal signing programme held at Bijoy Hall of city’s Bidyut Bhaban in the evening.
“We need flawless plan and its proper implementation,” said Muhith adding “I dream of a time with no power scarcity in the country.”
A treaty was signed between the Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (ECGBL) and Jevi of Isolux Ingenieria SA and Samsung C&T Corporation in the programme.
Muhith urged the Spanish Ambassador to invest in electricity, power and other sectors in the country and asked to utilize the manpower of the country.
With power secretary Abul Kalam Azad in the chair, Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, State minister for power, energy and mineral resources Mohammad Enamul Haque, World Bank Country Director in Bangladesh Allen Goldstein, Spanish Ambassador Luis Teda Chekon were present in the programme, among others.
