DHAKA: The government will set up more 50-60 cooperative markets in the capital city.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak Friday said this while inaugurating a Samabay holiday hat at city’s Agargaon.
Overall preparation has already been completed to set up the markets, he said.
The cooperative markets would curb a huge price gap between the producers and the consumers, Nanak told the journalists.
The initiative is not only for the capital, but it has also been set up at each and every district town across the country, he added.
Rural Development and Cooperative Secretary Dr Mihir Kanti Majumder, Register of the Cooperative Department Humayun Khalid and high officials from the concerned department and ministry were present at the programme.
