DHAKA: Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has alleged that detained Chhatra Dal President Sultan Salauddin Tuku and general secretary Amirul Islam Alim are being tortured in the prison cell.
Acting President of Chhatra Dal Shahidul Islam came up with the allegation at a press conference held at BNP central office in city’s Naya Paltan area.
He said, “JCD president and general secretary are deprived of minimum facilities as per jail code and we express hatred and protest over this.”
Demanding the release of all detained leaders, acting general secretary Amiruzzaman Khan Shimul said in written speech, “We will announce tougher programmes if the government does not take any steps in this regard.”
“Even we can start striking in educational institutions,” he said.
The press conference was also attended, among others, by JCD vice president Haider Ali Lelin, Dulal Hossain, Omar Faruk and joint secretary general Anwarul Haq Royel.
