DHAKA: Teachers Association of Jagannath University (JnU) Tuesday withdrew their continuous part-time work abstention programme following assurance from varsity authorities Tuesday.
The declaration came up from the association after their abstention from 11am to 2pm on Tuesday.
President of the association Professor Dr Md Selim said, “We have withdrawn our programmee as the university authority assured us to take stiff action against the students who disgraced a teacher.
Teachers will go back to class from Wednesday, he added.
The teachers also pressed ultimatum to the JnU authority to expel the accused students permanently within May 24.
On May 27, the teachers were humiliated as 56 students of Statistics Department failed to pass the 2008-09 session masters examination.
Following the incident the teachers of the university observed three-hour work abstention on Tuesday and two-hour on Monday.
