144 imposed in Habiganj

HABIGANJ: The local administration Thursday imposed section 144 in Bahubal upazila Sadar and Mirpur area of the district to avert an imminent clash as two factions of Juba League convened separate programmes at the same venue.

Newly formed committee president Oliur Rahman and general secretary Tara Mia announced to stage a motorcade procession in the area demanding trial of war criminals.

Besides, rival group committee president Abdul Hye and general secretary Abdul Modassir convened the same programme in the same area.

Apprehending disturbance of law and order, the local administration imposed section 144 to be in force from 6:00am till further order issued, said Bahubal Upazila Nirbahi Officer Humayun Kabir.
