Malaysia to provide 200 rail coaches

DHAKA: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader Tuesday said Malaysia would provide Bangladesh 200 meter gauge railway coaches for improving service of Bangladesh Railway (BR).

The communications minister came up with the disclosure after a meeting with visiting Malaysian delegation led by the Malaysian Prime Minister’s special envoy for South Asia Dato S Samy Vellu.

The Awami League lawmaker also told the journalists that the two governments are expected to sign an agreement on procurement of railway coaches soon.

The minister informed that a Malaysian expert team would visit Bangladesh next month.

Later, a Bangladeshi expert team would visit Malaysia for preparing the ground of signing the deal on procurement of coaches, he added.
