RANGAMATI: Two activists of United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF) were shot dead by the allegedly Janasanhati Samity (JSS) activists in Langadu upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Bikalpo Chakma, 40, and Narayan Chakma, 27.
Sugato Chakma was also received bullet injury in this matter.
UPDF blames to the JSS for the murders but they refute the allegation.
Langadu Thana Police confirmed about the shootings but they could not sure about the killings.
UPDF claimed that the JSS activists fired their activists in a pre-planed way while they were going to Kaptai Lake area for doing their organizational activities.
UPDF leader Ganotantrick Jubo Forum Central General Secretary Mickel Chakma told banglanews that some 10-12 armed cadres of JSS attacked their activists led by Amar Chakma Jongi.
He told that they want to see the arrest and exemplary punishment of the accused involved in the murder.
On the other hand, (JSS Santu), spokesperson and Central Publicity Affairs Secretary Sajib Chakma told banglanews that none of them were related in the incident.
He added: “We have no arms wing and we believe in democratic politics.”
Officer-in-Charge of Langadu Thana Rezaul Karim told banglanews that locals confirmed the matter.
The area is remote from another place cause why there was no Police Camp, he added.
