DHAKA: Robi Axiata Limited, the leading mobile-phone operator in the country, initiated a screening campaign on World Diabetes Day at their corporate head office in the city on Wednesday.
The program was held in collaboration with Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences and Hospital (BIHS)-an enterprise of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh.
This year the theme of World Diabetes Day is “The Right Environment for All, Diabetes: protect your future.”
Blood sugar and cholesterol of Robi employees were checked through this program to screen the risk of this Non-communicable Disease (NDC), raise awareness and encourage prevention & control among its employees.
Seventy percent risks of Type II diabetes can be avoided by adopting preventive measures like physical exercises, avoiding unhealthy food, living in a healthy environment.
Inaugurating the event Chief Human Resources Officer of Robi Matiul Islam Nowshad said, “Robi believes in promoting workplace wellness, including ensuring healthy working environments and preventing any health risk of its employees.”
VP–CSR and Sponsorship Mohiuddin Babar and Consultant and head of BIHS Dr Mobin Talukder were also present among others at the campaign.
