Main Eid jamaat at 8:30am

DHAKA: The main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr festival in the city will be held at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises at 8:30am on Sunday, if the Shawal moon is sighted anywhere in the country on Saturday evening.

In case of inclement weather, the main Eid jamat will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00am instead of the National Eidgah.

Suffecient security measures have already been taken at National Eidgah, sources said.

The arrangement for Eid congregation for women would be made at the National Eidgah with separate entrance. Besides, sperate places would be reserved for foreign ambassedors and diplomats to offer Eid prayer.

According to source, some 400 tube lights and fans have been set up in the Eidgah premises.

Public Works Department and Dhaka City Corporation under joint efforts completed arrangement of the National Eidgah for smooth holding of Eid congregation.

Some 125,000 Muslims will offer Eid prayers at the national congregation. President Zillur Rahman, Speaker Advocate Abdul Hamid, Cabinet Members, MPs, the Chief Justice and Justices of the Supreme Court, political leaders, diplomats from different countries in Bangladesh and high officials of the government would line up beside the commoners at the National Eidgah.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police has already been given the responsibility of maintaining security of the Eidgah, sources said.

The cops started installing close-circuit camera at different points of the Eidgah.

While monitoring the security system of them Eidgah, RAB DG Mokhlesur Rahman said, “Adequate number of RAB members will be deployed in the Eidgah area in order to ensure the security of the devotees. Meanwhile, seven dog squads will be also on guard.”

He said, “A total of 5,000 RAB members have been deployed across the country to ensure people’s safety during Eid. Of them, some 2,000 were deployed in the capital.”

Besides, Dhaka WASA would supply sufficient water for ablution (odu) of the devotees.
