DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman Tuesday expressed dissatisfaction over the irregularities and corruption of the country’s scheduled banks.
He held separate meetings with the high officials of Bangladesh Bank on Monday and Tuesday regarding the matter.
Deputy Governors and Executive Directors were also present in the meeting, sources said.
Besides, the governor also ordered to unearth the irregularities in the bank both public and private.
Governor asked to take the help of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding the matter.
Governor said, “We have to identify those who are trying to loot the public banks and bring them under trial.”
BB General Manager AFM Asaduzzaman told banglanews, “The irregularities of Sonali, Janata, Krishi and some private banks were leaked and the allegations were found true in some public banks during investigation.”
The economist added: “Bangladesh Bank will not tolerate such irregularities and strict legal action will be taken against those involved with the matter.”
