8 held in city with 3,000 textbooks

DHAKA: Detective branch of police held eight people with three thousands textbooks from city’s Banglabazar area under Sutrapur Thana on Tuesday.

The arrestees are Bijoy Kumar Sarker, 34, Md. Abul Bashar, 48, Md. Shahin, 35, Sajjad Hossain, 38, Md. Hafiz Bhuiyan, 45, Dulal Hossain, 31, Md Shahid, 40, and Md. Parvez Khan, 36.

Members of detective police led-by senior Assistant police-commissioner Nasir Uddin of Dhaka Metropolitan DB police (crime department, south) conducted the drive from Tuesday noon to night.

Nasir Uddin informed reporters at press conference at DB office around 11:30am that some book sellers had been selling free textbooks on black market in Banglabazar area.  

Books of different subjects of class-X were recovered from their possession.

A case was filed with Sutrapur Thana in this connection.
