No deficit in budget: Muhith

SYLHET: Finance Minister AMA Muhith Saturday said there is no deficit in the proposed budget of fiscal year 2012-13.

“The growth was 12 percent when the budget was prepared projecting deficit of five percent. So, present budget is not deficit budget as growth is predicted 18 percent,” he said.

The finance minister came up with the assertion while addressing a programme in the district.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker also said, “The ADP allotment was Tk 19,000 crore during fiscal year while this year it is Tk 38,000 crore.”

“The overall size of the country’s economy has been increased as the budget size rises,” he said.

Leaders of Sylhet Awami League and high ups of local administration were present at the programme.
