DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU) as he suddenly fell sick in the Kashimpur Jail on Thursday morning.
The detained BNP leader was suffering from heart disease and diabetic and now is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Jail source said he was taken to the hospital at about 10:30am as he fell sick.
On 29 April, two separate cases were filed against Mirza Abbas for blasting cocktail in front of secretariat and torching vehicles in front of Prime Minister’s Office during recent dawn-to-dusk hartal.
On May 16, a Dhaka court rejected his bail plea and sent them to Dhaka Central Jail.
Later, he was transferred to Kashimpur Jail.
