DHAKA: Parliamentary standing committee on government assurances has expressed deep dissatisfaction over the absence of Foreign Ministry representative in its meeting.
The committee has decided to call for an explanation from the ministry in this regard, a press release of Parliament Secretariat said.
The committee came up with the decision in their 35th meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad on Monday.
Sources said the meeting was scheduled to discuss about projects of religion and foreign ministries.
The committee members termed the matter as a ‘disregard’ to the parliamentary democracy, meeting sources said.
Committee member and BNP MP Rasheda Begum Hira told banglanews that the ministry is afraid of accountability as their progress in various projects is not satisfactory.
After the meeting, committee chairman M Ali Ashraf confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Committee member M Abdul Kuddus, BM Mozammel Haque, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) secretary M Mozammel Haque Khan and concerning officials were also present in the meeting.
