BARISAL: A student died Tuesday afternoon after falling from the second-floor of Shere-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMC) of the district.
The deceased was identified as Mainul Haque, 23, student of Kabi Nazrul College of Dhaka, son of late Moslem Mia, of Matharkathi village under Banaripara upazila.
SBMCH doctor Ranjit Das told banglanews that Mainul was admitted to the medicine unit of the hospital located at second floor over stomach trouble and he was given saline.
Later, he fell down from the floor as he lost control over his body while he was trying to sit in the balcony.
He was rushed to surgery ward where he succumbed to his injuries around 4:00pm.
His body was kept in hospital morgue for autopsy, the doctor added.
The deceased family members said to banglanews that he went to the area to meet his sister and admitted to the hospital as he felt trouble in his stomach in the morning.
