DHAKA: Former advisor of caretaker government Dr. Akbar Ali Khan Saturday said the economy of the country is now facing reverse trends.
“Though the economy is promising but it is also on the verge of risk and insecurity,” he said.
He came up with the assertion while addressing a discussion on budget reaction held at the CIRDAP auditorium organized by Samunnay, a non-government research organisation,.
Criticizing government’s claim about power generation, Akbar Ali Khan said, “Many members of the government have claimed that they did not to get praise in spite of establishing so many power plants. But unfortunately the people of the country are not being relieved from load shedding.”
He said, “It doesn’t matter that the cat is black or white, but it has to kill the rat.”
“If the government generates power enough, why people are facing load shedding? They cannot claim praise till load shedding is stopped,” he added.
Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled said, “The government had made the previous budget keeping in mind the elite class but the new proposed budget is for the general people.”
United International University’s Economy Department Prof Dr AKM Anamul Hoque presented the keynote in the programme with Bangladesh Krishi Bank Chairman Khandakar Ibrahim Khaled in the chair.
