MAULVIBAZAR: Three students drowned in Madhabkunda waterfall of the district on Friday while they were on a trip.
The deceased were identified as Munna, 14, class-IX student of Baitul Mamur Madrasha of Mirpur, son of Sekander Mia, Shahriar, 16, class-X student of Mirpur Bangla School and College, son of Iqbal Kabir and Ashik, 18, HSC examinee of Mirpur Commerce College, son of Babul Mia and all of them hailed from Mirpur of Dhaka.
Maulvi Bazar assistant police superintendent Alamgir Hossain told banglanews, a group of eight students Wednesday reached in Sylhet from Dhaka on a trip and went to Madhabkunda waterfall for a bath around 1pm on Friday and drowned when they crossed the safety barrier.
Later, divers coming from Sylhet recovered their bodies, he added.
