DHAKA: The launching ceremony of the newly introduced Television and Film Studies Department of Dhaka University will be held on July 23.
The programme will be held at 10:00am at Senate Bhaban of the university.
Chief Justice M Muzammel Hossain will attend the programme as the chief guest while DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will chair it.
Professor Janet Wasko, President of International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), will deliver the keynote speech in the programme.
Earlier, the University of Dhaka has invited applications for admission to the first batch of Master of Television and Film Studies for the academic session 2012-13.
A total of 30 students will get chance to admit into the department, university sources said.
Canadian commonwealth scholar Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, Chairperson of the Department, told banglanews that the department has created a great enthusiasm among the students after establishing it.
