EC dialogue with civil society after Eid

DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed Sunday said the Election Commission would sit for dialogue with the civil society over the next general election just after the Eid.

The election commissioner came up with the disclosure while talking to the journalists at his office in the city.

He also emphasized on updating the voter list and resetting constituency demarcation prior the next general election.

Rakibuddin said, “We have a demarcation law of 1976 and a draft act by the preceding commission regarding the matter. We will derive a plan on the basis of these laws.”

Soon after, we will sit with the political parties according to the plan, he added.

The election commission chief also said, “We will like to prove our neutrality through Gazipur by-election and Rangpur City Corporation election.”

He added: “The effort will attain the trust of the political parties upon us and consequently they will participate in the dialogue.”
